Corey Lloyd, Program Director at Montessori School of Charlottesville, said "The way that we pay people and the benefits that we provide - this is how I want to be treated so shouldn't we treat others the same way? Everyone deserves paid sick days. When you are feeling under the weather or caring for someone who is under the weather, you shouldn’t also have to be worrying about how you will pay your rent.

As a school we have a compounding impact when someone sick comes to class, [whether] it’s a teacher or if it’s a child whose parent didn’t have the time to take off of work. It has a ripple effect when [they] come to school. We also have to think about our teachers who have kids in the school - if we didn’t provide them with paid sick days then they would be coming in to teach while sick and they would be sending their kids into our classrooms sick. Obviously we don’t want that and by giving them the paid sick time that they deserve it prevents it from happening.”
